MAYA helped build a campaign that would change how home owners saw the department and, more importantly, their own role in protecting their communities. The Know It. Avoid It. Report It. campaign rolled out on April 18, 2011, in Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami. In Miami, we
saw an 80% increase in the number of calls for the duration of the campaign. In Los Angeles we saw a 64% increase in the number
of calls. In Chicago, the number of calls from African Americans doubled.
